New Realme phone with Dimensity 720 5G pops up on Geekbench

Image
A new affordable Realme smartphone has popped up on Geekbench. It has the model number RMX3092 and comes with Dimensity 720 chipset with 5G modem. The benchmark also reveals 8GB RAM and, somewhat disappointingly, Android 10. We are unsure as to what like the upcoming phone - it is the first one a number 3 after the code letters RMX, so it could be a member of a whole new line. Alleged Realme 8 on Geekbench The chipset and less-than-current Android version clearly indicate that it's not a flagship we have here, so another theory is that we are looking at the Realme 8. We expect to know for sure as more hints and leaks pile up.

Samsung announces HDR10+ Adaptive and Filmmaker mode for upcoming QLED TVs

Image
As more and more movies premiere on streaming services instead of movie theaters (most of which are closed right now), a debate has started – can a TV really recreate the theater experience? Samsung has partnered with studios, filmmakers and other manufacturers to solve this problem. Upcoming Samsung QLED TVs will feature HDR10+ Adaptive and Filmmaker Mode, which will work hand in hand to show movies just as the director intended. HDR content is best viewed in a darkened room (just like a theater), but most viewers can’t or don’t want to turn off the lights and draw the curtains when watching a movie or TV show. So, HDR10+ Adaptive uses the TV’s lightning sensor to optimize every scene for best viewing, regardless of the lighting conditions (which are unique to everyone’s room and change during the day). Filmmaker mode further adjusts the image settings so that the picture on screen matches the filmmaker’s intent. Samsung and Amazon worked together to ensure all HDR content on Prime

Realme UI 2.0 beta now available for the Realme 6 Pro and Narzo 20 Pro

Image
Ever since its original   unveiling   back in September, Realme UI 2.0 has been eagerly-anticipated by many. While the company isn't quite ready with the final releases for most of its lineup, it has managed to technically stick to its   update roadmap . Yesterday, we got word of an opt-in limited Realme UI 2.0   beta program   for the   Realme 7   and   Realme X2 Pro . Now it turns out that the   Realme 6 Pro   and   Narzo 20 Pro   can also participate. Anyone interested in test-driving Realme UI 2.0 on these devices should head on over to one of the two source links for the official steps to do so. It is a fairly-involved process that requires a Google Docs form sign-up and even has certain criteria for participating devices. For instance, no rooted units are allowed. Also, apparently, there is a limited number of slots available for each device beta, so you might want to hurry. You can read about the new Realme UI 2.0 features in more detail  here . There are quite a few thing

Upcoming Redmi Note 9T runs Geekbench, has some specs and images outed

Image
It's hardly surprising that Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi is working on yet another mid-range smartphone. But it is. What's perhaps more surprising is that unlike the main Mi brand, Redmi doesn't seem capable of counting past 9, at least for the global market. Its next smartphone is going to be the Redmi Note 9T - see, no 10 in sight. This will be a new member of the already incredibly crowded and confusing Redmi Note 9 line - quick, off the top of your head, name the differences between the  Redmi Note 9 ,  Redmi Note 9S ,  Redmi Note 9 Pro ,  Redmi Note 9 4G ,  Redmi Note 9 5G ,  Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G , and  Redmi Note 9 Pro Max . See? We told you it's confusing.   Alleged images of the Redmi Note 9T Anyway, all those shenanigans aside, the Redmi Note 9T is allegedly pictured in the images you can see above, and it's apparently going to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset. A prototype ran Geekbench 5 today, having 4GB of RAM, Android 10 on board (sad!), and

Tipster claims Samsung Galaxy S21 series will ship without charger and headset in UK

Dating back to October,  reports  circulating the web speculated that Samsung may follow in Apple’s footstep and remove the in-box charger and bundled earphones with its Galaxy S21 series. Well, those rumors have only been  intensifying  in the past month and now popular tipster  Ishan Agarwal  also voiced his belief that Samsung will indeed cut out the in-box accessories at least in the UK. The tweet has since been deleted so we only have a screenshot. The news comes after a  certification listing  in Brazil confirmed the S21 series will be sold without a charger and headphones. For what it's worth we still don’t have official confirmation if all three Galaxy S21 series phones will ship without in-box accessories. Earlier this week Samsung was caught deleting a Facebook post that mocked Apple for removing the charger with its iPhone 12 series.

$40 OnePlus fitness band rumored for next year to take on Xiaomi

Image
According to a new rumor from "insider sources", OnePlus is not just working on its first smartwatch, to be released in 2021, but also on a cheap fitness band to take on Xiaomi's incredibly successful Mi Band line. The smartwatch's development has already been  confirmed by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau , who has mentioned that it should launch early next year. Neither him nor the company have so far teased a fitness band in any way, so do take this info with a pinch of salt. Xiaomi Mi Band 5 Still, it makes sense. The Mi Bands, across all generations, have continuously been the best selling non-Apple wrist wearables, and it looks like OnePlus has finally noticed and wants a piece of the market as well. Apparently the OnePlus Band should debut at some point before the end of March, and retail for around $40. Like the  Mi Band 5 , the OnePlus Band will have some form of water resistance, an AMOLED screen, and multi-day battery life. The device is slated to make its initial de

Samsung Galaxy A42 5G review

Image
Introduction Samsung Galaxy A42 5G is one very odd smartphone. It was touted as the cheapest 5G phone and teased for weeks before its complete specs were finally outed. And it turned out the A42 has grown quite bigger since its compact A40 and A41 predecessors. Not only that but this new Galaxy A42 5G is also shaping to be an excellent gaming device with a pretty large battery at that. Yes, the Galaxy A42 5G is odd, but in a good way. The Galaxy A42 5G doesn't stray from the beautiful design we saw on the Galaxy A41 and comes with an even more glamorous Prism Dot look. But it is now bigger as Samsung opted for a 6.6" Super AMOLED screen this time. Larger it may be, but the resolution has dropped to HD+, which may get some instant "ew", but bear with us for a moment. The latest mid-range Galaxy is powered by the 5G-capable Snapdragon 750 chip, which is a real powerhouse. And with that oomph under that HD+ display, we are looking at flagship-grade performance in gami

Samsung One UI 3 mini review

Image
Introduction Few topics have had mobile phone users and media quite as united as the Android OS's fragmentation and the speed of updates. Manufacturers' custom overlays slow things down, and Samsung's often gotten the most flak in the past - it's had one of the heavier skins/launchers/whatever you want to call it, plus it's got a considerable portfolio of devices and their users to cater for. This has meant updates to the latest Android version have never been among the fastest out there. Well, Samsung's still got more Galaxies than most other makers have of their own brand of models, and it's still selling them by the buckets, and the in-house One UI is still one of the farthest removed from 'stock' Android, if that even remains a thing. But  OneUI 3 , based on the latest Android 11, is already here, within less than 4 months of Google's latest OS release. Which, when you come to think of it, is about the same timeframe that  Samsung released
