LG teases a rollable display phone at CES 2021

Image
It's well-known that LG has been working on a rollable smartphone for some time now so we are excited to see the company teasing its future product during this year's CES 2021. Unfortunately, though, we didn't get lot of details. In fact, there's hardly any info, but it's probably safe to assume that it will be revealed later this year. We can look back  at previous   leaks  to get an idea of how the LG Rollable will work. Oh, and that  last rumor  seems to be busted given that LG kind of confirmed the name "Rollable". We also expect TCL to come out with a finished product with rollable screen later this year.

New Fossil (with LTE), Michael Kors and Skagen (with e-ink) watches announced at CES

Image
The Fossil Group and its subsidiary brands brought out their next generation smartwatches to show off at CES 2021. This means the watches share some hardware (but have unique designs). Note that they are split into two groups – the more capable Google Wear OS watches and the hybrid designs with longer battery life. The former include some LTE-connected models. The Fossil Gen 5 LTE Touchscreen Smartwatch joins the  current Gen 5 series . It’s powered by a Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset and has an eSIM, which enables it to make and receive calls and texts. You don’t have to waste data to listen to music as there’s 8GB storage on board, which you can load up with tracks from Spotify.       The Fossil Gen 5 LTE in Black and Blush colors (silicone strap) There are three battery modes – daily (everything enabled, charge every night), extended (essential functions only, charge every few days) and time only (just shows the time, lasts over a week). LG unveils webOS 6.0 with Alexa and Google Assistant support, upgraded Magic Remote

Image
LG   unveiled new QNED Mini LED TVs   at CES 2021. They will be the first to run the latest webOS 6.0, “the most significant update” to the operating system since it was introduced back in 2014. It comes with a new Magic Remote to boot. The first thing you’ll notice is that there are now more dedicated buttons for services. Let’s start from the bottom – the new OS has native support for the Google Assistant and Alexa, which can be invoked with their own buttons. Above that are buttons for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and LG Channels. The Next Picks feature learns your tastes in TV viewing and will recommend two live programs (from broadcast or set-top offerings) and one title from streaming services. Alternatively, you can use Magic Tap – you can tap your phone to the remote (which now features NFC) to easily send photos and videos from your phone to the TV. Magic Explorer (an evolution of Magic Link) offers additional information about what’s on screen – about the actors, sh

LG announces details of its 2021 OLED TV lineup

Image
LG has released a handful of details about its upcoming 2021 series of OLED televisions at CES 2021. Going through the somewhat vague press release, it seems there would be at least five models of OLED TVs available in 2021, including the Z1, G1, C1, B1, and A1. Among these, the G1 will feature LG's next generation OLED panel called OLED evo. LG claims this new panel is capable of higher brightness levels, something OLED has always struggled with. The G1 will be available in 55, 65, and 77-inch sizes. The C1 will likely be the next popular model in LG's lineup after the success of 2020's CX. Like the CX, the C1 starts at 48-inches but goes all the way up to 83-inches for the first time. This won't feature the OLED evo panel, as that seems to be exclusive to the G1 model. The Z1 seems to be the 8K model and will be available in 77 and 88-inch sizes. Not much is known about the A1 and B1 models, other than they will be available in at least 55 and 65-inch sizes. The Z1,

Roborock S7 comes with improved mopping, familiar design

Image
Xiaomi-backed Roborock announced its latest robot vacuum at CES today called the Roborock S7. The big new change is in the mopping department with Sonic Mopping. The new mop vibrates at 50Hz frequency up to 3,000 times per minute allowing it to scrub floor surfaces and not just glide over them like past models. It should fare much better with dried stains and hard to clean surfaces. The mop can also lift itself by 5mm when it finishes its cleaning to prevent dirty streaks on the floor. Another new addition is the all rubber bristle-less brush. Ultrasonic carpet recognition can detect carpets via a dedicated sensor so it automatically raises the mop to prevent your carpets from getting wet. You still get room detection and zone-based cleaning with 2500 Pa suction. The new S7 loses out on the cameras found on last year’s S6 MaxV model and only relies on its LiDAR sensors for navigation. Dust bin capacity is 470ml while the water tank holds up to 300ml. The battery comes in at 5,200mAh

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Plus comes with new processors, more storage, LTE, and a bigger battery

Image
Microsoft’s got a refreshed Surface Pro 7   Plus   coming soon to enterprise and education customers. It looks exactly like the Surface Pro 7, down to the dimensions, display panel, and placement of the ports, but with some notable changes on the spec sheet. The display is the same 12.3-inch PixelSense display and you still get the single USB-C port + USB-A port + 3.5mm headphone jack, and Surface Connect port. The battery life is now rated for 15 hours of mixed use (the Surface Pro 7 was rated at 10.5 hours) thanks to a larger 50.4Wh battery (versus the 7 Pro’s 46.5 Wh one) and the improved efficiency of the new Intel Core processors. Intel’s 11th Generation processers power the Surface 7 Pro Plus. The Core i3 (1115G4) model starts at $899 and comes with 8GB RAM + 128GB SSD while the Core i5 (1135G7) model is the only one that comes with an LTE-enabled option. This model runs $1149 and is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE modem – so no 5G. Finally, a maxed out Core i7 (116

TCL 20 5G and TCL 20 SE are new affordable smartphones for entertainment

Image
TCL has announced its 2021 lineup, predictably called TCL 20. It will consist of no less than five different smartphones, with the first two being   TCL 20 5G   and TCL 20 SE, and coming to the stores this very month. The rest of the family includes TCL 20 Pro 5G, TCL 20L, and TCL 20S, which should be detailed later on and released by the summer. TCL 20 5G The TCL 20 5G phone is the most affordable 5G handset by TCL and comes with a Snapdragon 690 chipset, coupled with 6GB RAM. On the front, we have a 6.67” LCD Dotch Display, which is how TCL branded its panel with a punch hole for the 8MP selfie camera. The resolution is Full HD+, with a tall 20:9 ratio, and according to press materials, it has a 91% screen-to-body ratio. Since the fingerprint can’t make it under the panel, TCL has put it on the right side, under the power key. The setup on the back is aligned vertically and features a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide-angle shooter with 118-degree FoV, and a 2MP macro shooter. Oth

TCL Nxtpaper is a full color e-reader, Tab 10S and TWS earphones tag along

Image
It is a big day for TCL, first announcing   its new phones , followed by two new tablets - TCL Tab 10S and TCL Nxtpaper. While the first one is a pretty straightforward slate the second one is really intriguing - it comes with a new display technology that protects the eyes, saves battery, and still delivers full color. TCL Nxtpaper The Nxtpaper switches the typical LCD for an NCVM-composite sheet. The abbreviation stands for non-conductive vacuum metallization, and the technology uses special materials that do not conduct electricity. TCL revealed it basically works like an e-ink display, but will full-color support and much higher 1440 x 1080 pixel resolution. Such a panel does not need any backlight, meaning there’s no blue light that usually strains the eyes during prolonged use. The goal for TCL was to create a device that can be used for the whole day, especially in these times were a lot of kids are studying at home. However, since it doesn't emit light, it will ship with

vivo V20 Pro 5G hands-on review

Image
Introduction The vivo V20 Pro 5G has been announced back in September, but it's only now that it reaches Indian soil. We had the chance to do a full review of the vanilla V20, and we really appreciated the slightly different approach vivo had with the phone. So now that we have the Pro version, we will take a quick look at what makes this one a "Pro". Design-wise, there isn't much of a difference, especially if you look at the back. However, the front features a larger notch, which is a bit unexpected, given that notched handsets are pretty scarce these days. Other than that, the V20 Pro 5G is a typical mid-range device in the sub INR 30,000 category with a bright OLED display, 5G-capable Snapdragon 765G chipset. vivo V20 Pro 5G specs at a glance: Body:  158.8x74.2x7.4mm, 170g; Glass front and back, plastic frame.
