- Oppo is said to be working on a new dual-camera technology using Sony sensors.

- Oppo has said it will launch the Find X3 phones in 2021.
Oppo is putting out all the stops with the next year’s Find X3 flagship series. The company has already dropped major hints at what to expect from the Find X3 smartphones. That includes the DCI-P3 colour gamut with a 10-bit system for phone’s core hardware encoding systems, which is a major step-up for the smartphone industry. Oppo is now planning to surpass another technology. A new report has claimed that the Oppo Find X3 series will have an advanced dual-camera system that will work differently.
The Find X3 and Find X3 Pro smartphones will have better dual-camera modules that Oppo is said to be testing right now. This system will likely use the Sony IMX7xx series of camera sensors along with a larger CMOS bottom and a higher pixel count, according to a leak on Weibo. We could be looking at more powerful cameras than the 108MP camera that is available on select smartphones. Sony’s latest sensor for phone cameras is IMX686 that is used on top-level smartphones. I tested it out on the Asus ROG Phone 3 and found it impressive enough for the price category it is available under.
Oppo’s Find X3 and Find X3 Pro are believed to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 processor that will launch in December at the company’s event. Since this is going to be the fastest processor for the Android world, it makes sense that Oppo is utilising the powers of this processor to the fullest. A highly advanced camera system will need more power the Snapdragon 875 will likely be capable of providing. Not just the new camera system, the Oppo Find X3 series will feature the new 10-bit colour encoding system for the camera, storage, and display to make sure the colour depth and accuracy stay intact.
Some other rumours have indicated the Find X3 and Find X3 Pro smartphones will come with a 3K resolution screen, with richer colours. There could even be a higher refresh rate that this screen is expected to come with. The current Find X2 series smartphones sport the 120Hz refresh rate, so we might be looking at the Find X3 series bringing the 144Hz refresh rate that only a select set of smartphones come with. But while this is good news, it will not make much difference to your experience unless the boundaries are pushed when gaming.
For what it is worth, the Oppo Find X3 and Find X3 Pro are going to be full of several advanced technologies that no other smartphone currently comes with. And with this, we have a hope that Oppo is going to make it big in the market, big enough to finally take on Samsung, Apple, and Google phones.
The current phones from Samsung, Apple, and Google are all mighty in their respective departments. For example, Google Pixel phones are known for their exemplary photography skills while the iPhone comes across as a complete package that pushes the envelope when it comes to smartphone features. The iPhone 12 has the new Dolby Vision video recording functionality available. Samsung, on the other hand, has made Android software that is meant for productivity while making sure there is no compromise on the kind of photo quality.
Oppo has most of these technologies, sometimes even more, but it is yet to become a popular brand in the premium category. I am sure that the breakthrough technologies that Oppo is launching with the Find X3 will catapult the brand to achieve that. The Find X3 phones are expected to launch in the first quarter of 2021.
